Barcelona, June 18 2015.– Idneo, the engineering specialized in the development of technology products with high added value for the sectors of mobility, medical devices, consumer electronics and industrial, has increased its turnover to 14.3 million euros in 2014, representing a growth of 9.4% over the previous year. Idneo’s engineering business is an important catalyst for the production activity of Ficosa’s plants in Viladecavalls (Barcelona) and Shanghai (China), which is expected to generate an accumulated production of an additional amount of more than 150 million euros for the group in five years ahead.

In the words of Raul Lucas, Idneo’s CEO: “We are very pleased with the strong growth experienced by the company considering we were born in a context of economic recession. In four years we have managed to double turnover and expand our workforce by 45%, from 150 employees in 2011 to 250 in 2015”.

Idneo is one of the pillars of Ficosa group’s diversification process into new sectors beyond the automotive industry, which began after the purchase of the facilities of Viladecavalls in 2011. As Lucas notes, “Idneo has established itself as the engineering reference in strategic sectors such as medical devices, mobility, consumer electronics and industrial”. Since its founding, the company has worked for a total of 50 clients, consolidating major strategic accounts as HP, Sony, Inergy, Thermofischer, Roche Diagnostics, Horiba, Lear, Brembo, Allion and Mclaren, among others. In turn, the continuity of Sony’s activity has been one of the great achievements in 2014.

The company dedicates an important effort in R&D, allocating more than 4% of its turnover. Its business model is based on making great investments in technology and innovation with the goal of creating standards to offer them to customers and maintaining its technological leadership. Idneo has an extensive know-how in software, hardware, mechanical and compliance areas, being able to cover the entire value chain: development, validation and production of technology products of high quality and reliability.

The firm commitment to internationalization has also played a key role in the company’s growth. With presence in the United States, Germany, France and UK through local partners, Idneo invoiced 26.40% of its sales abroad, representing 51% more than in the previous year. “We have achieved a significant degree of maturity in the Spanish and French market and we foresees to strengthen the company’s globalization by opening our own offices in the United States and Germany by 2016,” says Lucas.

Looking ahead to 2019, Idneo plans to increase its turnover by 77.5% and expects that a 40% of its turnover comes from abroad. This increase will be closely related to the substantial growth of Idneo in the field of medical equipment. In this area, the company has an extensive technological knowledge to position itself as a key technology partner of the most important companies of the sector worldwide. The new manufacturing facility of medical equipment which has been recently opened by Ficosa in the Viladecavalls Technology Center strengthens Idneo’s capabilities in this field, offering customers not only product development but also manufacturing.
